The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India had awarded President’s Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service to the Fire Personnel of the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services namely; Shri Shivanand M. Raut, Sub-Officer and Shri Anant T. Gawas, Sub-Officer on the occasion of Republic Day 2018 and Shri Rajendra A. Haldankar, Divisional Officer and Shri Anandu K. Velip, Leading Fire Fighter on the occasion of Independence Day 2018.
The Director General (Fire Service, Civil Defence, and Home Guard) Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India had organized Medal Distribution Ceremony on the occasion of Civil Defence and Home Guard Day on 06.12.2018 at Vigyan Bhawan at New Delhi. The President’s Fire Service Medal for the awardees of the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services, Goa was presented at the hands of Shri Kamal Kishore, Member of National Disaster Management Authority in the presence of Shri D.K. Shammi, Fire Adviser, Government of India on this auspicious day.
The Brief Description of the recipient of the Awardees of the President’s Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service is given below.
1. Shri Rajendra A. Haldankar, Divisional Officer
Shri Rajendra Anant Haldankar joined the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services in the year 1991 as Asst. Station Fire Officer. He has put in 27 years of unblemished service in the Department and is presently holding the post of Divisional Officer (Group “A” Gazetted) at Central Zone, Ponda.
During his service he has attended Hazmat Specialization Course conducted by Singapore Civil Defence Academy at Singapore. He has also undergone Urban Search and Rescue and Medical First Responder Course at United Kingdom.
During his tenure, he has exhibited a keen interest in executing the difficult task in the operational field and has handled fire stations independently.
He is the recipient of Cash awards on three occasions and Commendatory Note/Merit Certificate on five occasions. He is also the recipient of Goa Chief Minister’s Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day, 19th December’2009.
2. Shri Shivanand M. Raut, Sub-Officer
Shri Shivanand M. Raut joined the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services on 26.09.1983 as Fire Fighter. He was promoted to the post of Leading Fire Fighter on 20.12.2006 and to the post of Sub-Officer on 10.01.2014. He has put in 34 years of unblemished service in the Department.
He is the recipient of Commendatory Note/Merit Certificate on five occasions. He is also the recipient of Goa Chief Minister’s Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day, 19th December’2009.
3. Shri Anant Tukaram Gawas, Sub-Officer
Shri Anant Tukaram Gawas joined the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services on 04.05.1987 as Fire Fighter. He was promoted to the post of Leading Fire Fighter in the year 2010 and to the post of Sub-Officer on 12.01.2018. He has put in 30 years of unblemished service in the Department.
He is the recipient of Commendatory Note on three occasions. He is also the recipient of Goa Chief Minister’s Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day, 19th December’2013.
4. Shri Anandu Kusta Velip, Leading Fire Fighter
Shri Anandu Kusta Velip joined the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services on 15.01.1996 as Fire Fighter. He has put in 22 years of unblemished service in the Department and presently holding the post of Leading Fire Fighter.
He was awarded Commendatory Note in appreciation of his Good Discipline and General Behaviour and Certificate of Commendation for his dedication and devotion to duty demonstrated during the Search and Rescue operation at the Major Building Collapse incident site of “Ruby Residency” at Chawdi, Canacona.
He is the recipient of Goa Chief Minister’s Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day, 19th December’2017.
