On 14th April 2023, wreaths were laid at the “Martyrs Memorial Column” at the Fire Force Training Ground, Panaji by Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Shri. Nitin V. Raiker, Director, Fire & Emergency Services & all Ranks from Deputy Director (Fire) to Fire Fighter. Two minutes silence was observed by all the Officials present in memory of Firemen Martyrs who laid down their lives while on duty. The Director, Fire & Emergency Services explained the significance of the observance of the National Fire Service Day and read out the names of fireman martyrs who laid down their lives while on duty.
The Chief Guest for the function Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa reviewed the CEREMONIAL PARADE. Commendation Certificates for exemplary performance in the field of Rescue Operation, Good Discipline & General Behavior and Devotion towards Duties were also awarded to the various ranks of the department operational fire personnel at the hands of Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa in presence of Shri Ramesh Verma, IAS, Chief Electoral Officer, and Shri. Nitin V. Raiker, Director, Fire & Emergency Services.
As a part of this awareness campaign, a Poster Competition was organized for the Primary and Middle School Children of the State on 01st & 2nd April 2023 wherein a total of 2200 students from schools all over the state participated in the Poster Competition. The Competition was divided into two groups, Group-I (7-10 years) – Topic: “Fire & Environment” and Group-II (11-14 years) – Topic: “Fire Safety in Industries”. Prizes were awarded to those students who stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Poster Competition in both Groups on 14th April 2023, National Fire Service Day at the hands of Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa.
Smt. Sheetal Wader, General Manager, Progressive Management Consultants in her speech congratulated the Department for getting internationally certified for their Preparedness for Quality Management & Occupational Health and Safety Preparedness i.e ISO 9001 & ISO 45001, under the guidance of the eminent Director, for the entire department and all those in line of their service. The Hon. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant handed over the ISO Certificates to the Shri. Nitin V. Raiker, Director, Fire & Emergency Services in the presence of the senior officials of the department.
Shri. Nitin V. Raiker, Director, Fire & Emergency Services in his speech gave a brief statistical information regarding the various training initiatives carried out by the department under Training of Trainers Programme in basic Fire Safety and Evacuation Drill, Safer School Safer India and Disaster Preparedness and Fire Safety Training during the year 2022-23. He further stated that the department has developed an Automated Dynamic Live Calls & Statistical Dashboard as a part of populating a set of reports for fire & emergency incidents attended alongwith summary reports which will help the department in understanding the requirement of resources depending on the type of incidents arising across the State of Goa.
The Chief Guest Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa praised the Department officials for their prompt response in mitigating the recent fires at Berger Becker Coatings Pvt Ltd at Pilerne Fire Station and the Forest Fires that occurred in both North & South District. He stated that it is a proud moment for the State and the Department for achieving the prestigious ISO 9001:2018 which is for Quality Management System and 45001:2015 which is for Occupational Health & Safety Management System certifications and further said that all other Government Departments should adopt the certification for their better prospects.
The Department had organized Live demonstrations of Fire Fighting and Rescue operation for the public and also displayed the exhibition of various equipment’s related to Fire Fighting, Search & Rescue, Swift Water/Flood Rescue, Medical First Responder (MFR), Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) and Lighting Equipment’s for the general public at the Goa State Fire Force Training Ground.
Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Goa in presence of Shri. Nitin V. Raiker Director, Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services, also inaugurated the newly commissioned Water Tender.
Shri Ajit K. Kamat, Asst. Divisional Officer, Fire Force Headquarters compered the function & proposed the Vote of Thanks.
