NATIONAL FIRE SERVICE DAY, 14th APRIL 2022

The National Fire Service Day was observed on Thursday 14th April 2022, followed by Fire Prevention Week. The National Theme for the year is:

“Learn Fire Safety, Increase Productivity”

“ अग्नि सुरक्षा सिखें, उत्पादकता बढ़ाऐं ”

On 14th April 2022, wreaths were laid at the “Martyrs Memorial Column” at the Fire Force Headquarters followed by the CEREMONIAL PARADE which was reviewed by the Chief Guest of the function Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa.

As a part of this awareness campaign, a Poster Competition was organized for the Primary and Middle School Children of the State on 03rd  April 2022 wherein a total of 2155 students from schools all over the state participated in the Poster Competition. The Competition was divided into two groups, Group-I (7-10 years) – Topic: “School Fire Safety” and Group-II (11-14 years) – Topic: “Fire Safety Planning”.

Prizes were awarded to the students who stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Poster Competition in both Groups on 14th April 2022, National Fire Service Day at the hands of Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa in presence of  Shri. Nitin V. Raiker, Director, Fire & Emergency Services. (LIST OF AWARDEES)

Commendation Certificates for exemplary performance in the field of Rescue Operation, Good Discipline & General Behaviour and Devotion towards Duties were also awarded to the various ranks of the department administrative & operational fire personnel. (LIST OF AWARDEES)

The Department had organised Live demonstrations of Fire Fighting and Rescue operation for the general public and also displayed Exhibition of various equipment’s related to Fire Fighting, Search & Rescue, Swift Water/Flood Rescue, Medical First Responder (MFR), Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) and Lighting Equipment’s for the general public at the Goa State Fire Force Training Ground.

POSTER COMPETITION FOR SCHOOL CHILDREN, 03rd APRIL 2022

As part of the celebrations for the National Fire Services Day which is to be held on April 14, 2022 a poster competition for school students was organized by the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services across all Goa on Sunday, April 3, 2022. 

The competition was organized for two different age categories Group I consisted students from the age group of 7-10 years and Group II was from 11-14 years. The topics for the two different age groups were "School Fire Safety" and "Fire Safety Planning" respectively. Drawing paper was provided while students were expected to carry their own coloring material and school ID cards.

The competition was held across 16 different places in Goa with an overall turnout of 2,155 students, of which 916 belonged to group I and 1239 belonged to group II. The winning students will be felicitated at the hands of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on National Fire Services Day to be held at the Fire Headquarters Ground at St Inez.

Director Shri.  Nitin Raiker has emphasised on the importance of creating awareness of fire safety schools. Every school must take necessary precautions in order to prevent anything untoward from happening in the case of an emergency, like a fire. Every floor must have a fire extinguisher, fire alarm, and other fire safety equipment necessary that can be used to contain a fire outbreak before it spreads. A competition like this can help create awareness and educate young students across Goa.
