Manipal hospitals Goa conducted a pulmonary function test camp for the fire personnel
The Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services in association with Manipal Hospitals Goa conducted a Pulmonary Function Test camp for the Fire Personnel of Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services at Goa State Fire Force Training Centre on 19/06/2019 at 10:00 hrs.
Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) are noninvasive tests that show how well the lungs are working. The tests measure lung volume, capacity, rates of flow, and gas exchange. This information can help to diagnose and decide the treatment of certain lung disorders. As such the Directorate has organized this Camp in association with Manipal Hospitals Goa for the health benefit of the department Fire Personnel who attend regular Fire Calls and are prone to smoke inhalation.
As a Corporate Social Responsibility Manipal Hospitals Goa with its Team of experts headed by Dr. Prabhu Prasad Interventional Pulmonologist have conducted the Tests. Dr. Prabhu Prasad in his health talk highlighted the importance of the test and brief the Fire Personnel on various disorder caused in lungs due to inhalation of toxic fumes and gases while fighting the fire and the remedial actions that can be taken to prevent such disorders. He also briefed on the medical support that can be extended to the personnel suffering from lung disorders.
Director of Fire & Emergency Services Shri. Ashok Menon inaugurated the camp. A total of 62 Fire Personnel attended the Camp.
