In keeping with its tradition of selfless service and humanitarian outreach, the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services, in collaboration with the Blood Bank of Goa Medical College, Bambolim, organized a Blood Donation Camp on 19th April 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Fire Force Training Centre as part of the Fire Prevention Week activities.
The camp was inaugurated by Shri Nitin V. Raiker, Director, Fire & Emergency Services, in the distinguished presence of Shri Rajendra Haldankar, Deputy Director (Fire), Shri Shripad Gawas, Divisional Officer, North Zone Panaji, Shri Francisco Mendes, Divisional Officer, South Zone Margao, Shri Bosco Ferrao, Assistant Divisional Officer, North Zone Panaji, and Dr. Sanjay Korgaonkar, Medical Officer, Blood Bank GMC.
A total of 60 dedicated donors, including officers and staff of the Directorate, came forward to donate blood, reinforcing the department’s commitment not just to fire safety, but also to community service and saving lives in every way possible.
The Blood Donation Camp symbolizes the Department’s dual mission to prevent and respond to fire-related emergencies and to uphold its responsibility towards society by supporting critical healthcare initiatives like blood donation. Such acts of generosity during Fire Prevention Week underline the human aspect of fire services and the values of courage, compassion, and care that define the personnel of the Directorate.
The Directorate continues to take proactive steps in spreading fire safety awareness through various public outreach activities, workshops, drills, and educational campaigns during Fire Prevention Week, with the goal of creating a safer and more prepared community.
