The Government of India Ministry of Home Affairs had carried out “Fire Hazard And Risk Analysis” of Goa state to determine the need of new Fire station, additional equipment and manpower. The said study had recommended an Urban Fire Station at Cuncolim.

The Cuncolim Town has an Industrial Estate which consists of major accident hazard units, Steel units, Gas Godown, Small scale industries, Chemical industries which are fire hazardous in nature. The National Highway 17 also passes through the Cuncolim town which is prone to many gas tank accidents, chemical leakage/ spillages etc. There was a genuine need for putting up the Fire Station at Cuncolim  to cater to the needs of the Industrial Estate, neighbouring areas and in view of Mishaps along the high way in the Ghat section.

The vision of setting a Fire Station at Cuncolim has come true with the valuable guidance of Hon. Chief Minister. The Cuncolim Fire Station has been set up on the land of Electricity Department which has now been transferred to the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services. The Hon. Chief Minister is taking keen interest in the working of the department as well as attending to its problems.

The Chief Guest for the function was Hon. Chief Minister Shri Pramod Sawant and also present were Hon. Member of the Legislative Assembly for Cuncolim Constituency and Chairman of MPDA , Shri Laxman Ganesh Naik, Smt. Rupa Prashant Gaonkar, Ward Councillor, Cuncolim Municipal Council.
