The Porvorim Fire Station is a part of the National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project which is being implemented in Goa by Water Resources Department in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority through World Bank Funding.

Shri. Nitin Raiker, Director, Fire & Emergency Services informed that the Porvorim town has various commercial establishments and Government offices including the State Secretariat and Assembly Complex etc. The National Highway 66 also passes through the Porvorim Town and hence there was a genuine need for putting up the Fire Station at Porvorim to cater to the needs of the citizens and other neighbouring areas of the town.

Further he stated that the vision of setting up of Fire Station at Porvorim has come true with the valuable guidance of the Hon. Chief Minister. The Hon. Chief Minister is taking keen interest in the working of the Department as well as attending to its problems.
