POSTER COMPETITION FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS 2026

In order to promote fire safety awareness among young students, a Poster Competition was successfully organised across the state, witnessing enthusiastic participation from school children in two distinct age groups. The initiative aimed at fostering creativity among students while sensitizing them to critical aspects of fire prevention and emergency preparedness.

Students in Group I (7–10 years) participated under the theme “Stop, Drop and Roll – Stay Safe from Fire”. Through their creative expressions, participants effectively depicted the dual role of fire as both a useful resource and a potential hazard. The artworks reflected an understanding of fire safety practices along with imaginative representation of its benefits and risks.

Participants in Group II (11–14 years) worked on the theme “Fire Safety Awareness for a Safer Society”. The entries showcased awareness regarding preventive measures, emergency response, and the role of individuals in ensuring community safety. The students demonstrated commendable understanding of fire safety protocols and preparedness.

The competition received an overwhelming response from various fire stations across the state, with a total of 1307 entries submitted.
• In Group I, 250 boys and 315 girls participated.
• In Group II, 313 boys and 429 girls took part.

Among all participating units, Oldgoa Fire Station recorded the highest number of entries with 261 participants, followed by Margao Fire Station with 177 participants.

The initiative not only provided a platform for students to showcase their artistic talents but also reinforced important life-saving messages related to fire safety. The quality and depth of the submissions reflected a high level of awareness and concern among students regarding fire safety issues.

Such initiatives play a significant role in shaping responsible and informed citizens by equipping them with essential knowledge and awareness. The Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services extend their sincere appreciation to all participating students, teachers, and parents for their active support and contribution to the success of this program.
