On the occasion of 71st Republic Day, 26th January 2020, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India had awarded of President’s Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service to the Fire Personnel of the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services;
Shri Ajit K. Kamat, Asst. Divisional Officer (offg.)
Shri Ajit K. Kamat joined Fire Service Department in the year 1985 as Fireman. He successfully completed Sub-Officers Course from the National Fire Service College, Nagpur. He was appointed to the post of Sub-Officer in the year 1993. Thereafter he was promoted to the post of Station Fire Officer in the year 2002 and thereafter held the charge of Asst. Divisional Officer since December 2014. He has so far put in 33 years of dedicated service.
He has also successfully completed Station Officers and Instructors Course in the year 2004 and Divisional Officers Course in the year 2007 from the National Fire Service College, Ministry of Home Affairs, Nagpur.
He was awarded Gold Medal by the National Fire Service College, Nagpur, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India for securing 1st position in the Station Officers and Instructors Course in the year 2004
He is the recipient of Goa Chief Minister’s Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day, 19th December’2008.
During his tenure he has worked at various Fire Stations and has exhibited keen interest in executing difficult task in the operational field. He has also handled Fire Stations independently.Shri Kamat is well disciplined, obedient and loyal to the department.
Shri Marveyn Bosco Ferrao, Station Fire Officer
Shri Marveyn Bosco Ferrao joined Fire Service Department in the year 1990 as Fireman. He has successfully completed Elementary Course in General Fire Fighting training. He has successful completed Sub-Officers Course from the National Fire Service College, Nagpur, and thereafter appointed to the post of Sub-Officer in the year 2000. He was promoted to the post of Station Fire Officer in the year 2007.
He has also successfully completed Station Officers and Instructors Course in the year 2008 and Divisional Officers Course in the year 2013 from the National Fire Service College, Ministry of Home Affairs, Nagpur. He has so far put in 28 years of dedicated service.
He was the recipient of Home Minister’s Fire Service Medal for gallantry for showing exemplary courage by tackling a rampaging bull at the Campal Parade Ground on 12.12.2008 and thus saving school children and other participants who had gathered for rehearsal parade for Goa Liberation Day 2008. He was also awarded the 17th Godfrey Philips Bravery Award under the category of physical Bravery on 18th June 2009. He was felicitated by the Rotary Club of Panaji Mid-Town on 28th September 2010.
