The 35th Annual Inspection Day Parade of the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services, Goa was held on 25th February 2023 at the Goa State Fire Force Training Ground, St. Inez, Panaji - Goa. The Inspection Day Parade is an annual event to test the overall operational fitness level of the Fire Personnel for prompt response in the event of any emergency. Certificates and Trophies were handed over to the winners of the Drill Competition and the Annual Sports Meet. Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, I.A.S., Chief Secretary, Government of Goa was the Chief Guest for the function. Mrs. Sneha Gitte Special Secretary (Home), Dr. P. K. John (founder Director of DFES) also graced the occasion.
Shri Nitin V. Raiker, Director, Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services initially inspected the Annual Parade at 7:30 am and the best turn out of the Fire Personnel from various Ranks were selected for the Best Turn out Awards. The First Place for Squad Drill, Ladder Drill was awarded to Fire Force Headquarters, Pump Drill to Fire Force Headquarters and Tug of War to Ponda Fire Station. The Best Turn Out was awarded to Shri. Santosh Gawas, Station Fire Officer, Shri. Rajesh Talwar Sub Officer, Shri. Santosh R. Gaonkar, Leading Fire Fighters, Shri. Sitaram L Kamat, Watchroom Operator, Shri. Ashok V. Naik & Shri. Damodar T. Naik, Driver Operator, Shri. Siddesh Warang, Shri. Jairam Mulgaonkar, Shri. Yogeshwar G. Patil & Shri. Jitendra V. Naik, Fire Fighters and Best Platoon was awarded to Platoon No. 10 of Shri. Damodar Zambaulikar, Station Fire Officer. Winners of 10th Annual Sports Meet for Cricket was awarded to Central Zone, Football to North Zone & Volleyball to Central Zone.
Shri. Nitin V. Raiker, Director, Fire & Emergency Services in his Welcome Address stated that the Annual Inspection Parade is an important occasion for the department wherein the Directorate is maintaining a healthy tradition of monthly Parades which ensure that the personnel at filed level remains operationally feet and smartly Turn Out. The Annual Inspection Parade is finishing touch to these efforts and the prizes awarded on the occasion has the salutary effect of improving the standards of performance.
Further he informed that the long pending issue of inducting women’s in the Fire Service Department have come to a fruitful conclusion. The Departments has appointed first time in the history of Goa Fire & Emergency Services 01 Women Sub-Officer and 03 Women Fire Fighters who are presently undergoing Elementary Course in General Fire Fighting at Regional Training Centre, Goa State Fire Force Panaji. The Government of India has recommended, a Model Bill 2019, so that there is broad uniformity across the Country, for Fire and Life Safety Regulations. The Department had proposed to the Government, for adopting the bill, and the proposal is at final stage, for getting the legislative approval.
Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, I.A.S., Chief Secretary, Government of Goa inaugurated the Vehicle Tracking & Management System (GPS) which has enhanced the response mechanism while attending to fire & emergency incidents across the State also in his Speech he commended the performance of the March Past, Ladder Drill and Winners of the Athletic Events. Further he praised the departments performance towards prompt & effective response in attending to Fire & Emergency Calls compared to the last three years.
The Exhibition of Ladder Drill event was carried out by the Fire Force Headquarters Fire Personnel crew, which was excellently executed within a timing of 01.45 Mins. Smt. Varsha Malik. Chandgadkar compered the function and Shri. Ajit Kamat, Asst. Divisional Officer, North Zone proposed the Vote of Thanks.
