As a prelude to the National Fire Service Day on 14th April 2017, the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services had launched a series of activities to enhance the level of awareness among the citizens. The National Theme for the year is;

“FIREMEN - YOUR PARTNER FOR SAVING LIFE AND PROPERTY”

  • As a part of this awareness campaign a Poster Competition was organized for the Primary and Middle School Children of the State on 2nd April 2017. The Competition was divided into two groups, Group-I (7 - 10 years) – Topic : Firemen our friends at time of need and Group-II (11 - 14 years) - Topic : Fire Precaution to save life & property. The winners of the competition were felicitated on 14th April with cash prize; 1st prize Rs. 2,000/-, 2nd prize Rs. 1,500/- and 3rd Prize Rs. 1,000/- in each category. A total of 1305 students from schools all over the state participated in the Poster Competition.
  • On the occasion of National Fire Service Day 14th April 2017, the Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services organized GOA FIRE RUN, a 10 Km. Run and 5 Km. Walk and Run. This Run in the state is organised to Pay Homage to Firemen Martyrs of the Country. Approximate 500 participants participated in the event. The running route for 10 Km. is from Goa State Fire Force Training Ground St. Inez, International Hotel, Miramar Circle, Hotel Mandovi, Turnaround at Captain of Ports Jetty and return along same route and the running route for 5 Km. is from Goa State Fire Force Training Ground St. Inez, International Hotel, Miramar Circle, Kala Academy, Turnaround at Kala Academy and return along the same route. The event was commenced from 6:30 a.m. upto 9:00 a.m
  • On 14th April 2017, wreaths were laid at the “Martyrs Memorial Column” at the Headquarters followed by the CEREMONIAL PARADE which was reviewed by the Chief Guest of the function Shri Manohar Parrikar, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa & Guest of Honour Shri Dharmendra Sharma, I.A.S. Hon’ble Chief Secretary.
  • The Department had organised Live demonstrations of Fire Fighting and Rescue operation for the general public and also Exhibition of various equipments related to Fire Fighting, Search & Rescue, Swift Water/Flood Rescue, Medical First Responder(MFR), Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) and Lighting Equipments were displayed for the general public at the Goa State Fire Force Training Ground.
  • During the FIRE PREVENTION WEEK from 14th to 20th April 2017, Mass awareness on Fire Safety by holding lectures and demonstrations on Fire Prevention and Fire Protection at public places such as Market, Shopping Malls, Schools, Banks, etc. were carried out by the Station Fire Officer/Officer-In-Charge of all Fire Stations.
  • In Keeping with tradition of donating Blood for the needy a BLOOD DONATION CAMP was organised by the department at Caculo Mall on 18thApril 2017 at 10:00 hrs. in association with Rotary Club of Panaji Midtown, Sea Scan Maritime Academy and Blood Bank–Goa Medical College, Bambolim and supported by House of Caculos. A total of 93 donors were part of the Blood Donation Camp last year.
  • On concluding day of the Fire Prevention Week, 6th ALL GOA QUIZ COMPETITION for the High School level Students was organised on 20th April 2017, in association with M/s. Nestle (India) Ltd. at Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji. Cash Awards and Certificates were awarded to the Winners and Participants.
  • On 14th April, the Department had launched a project SAFE GOA 24 x 7 EMERGENCY MONITORING SYSTEM. This project will help to ensure the continuous monitoring of the health of the Fire Protection Measures and to optimize the response time.
